Super Terrible Archaic Registration System
Tml is FFF-Day.
Fastest Fingers First Day
Scary leh.
I don't like registering for subjects
First, you have to decide which modules you want to take for the new semester
Second, you gotta make sure that your modules and exams don't clash
Third, you try your darndest to get a four day week
(which in CS is almost impossible)
FFF-Day dawns
Most register from home
Others go to school to register
Kiasu Singaporean mentality mahh..
In school = closer to the administration = faster = higher chance of getting modules
*whispers* -- I'm one of the 'others'
HAHA!
The few minutes before STARS opens is always the most excruciating
Your finger is hovering over the mouse
and your eyes on the computer clock
waiting, waiting, waiting for the hour to be up.
Your heart is pounding in your ears
You pray silently.
"Please, please, please, let me get all my tutorials."
Time is up
CLICK!
Shit!COM HANG!
You look around at your other friends with horror
Their faces mimic yours
The look of horror dissolves into relief
Cuz everybody's in the same boat
Safety in numbers remember?
Ahh..all but one.
You realise that Mr Dunstan Lee, our very own CI Club president has gotten all that he registered for
And all in just one single beautiful click!
Everybody around you curses and swear
Yourself included.
He managed to escape the curse of the NTU STARS registration system.
Hysterical and manic clicking ensues
Mixed up with whoops of joy and cries of frustration as everybody around you fights for those coveted tutorial timeslots
The clicking stops when time for registration is up.
As you walk out of the computer lab
You're either smiling with satisfaction or pulling your hair out in frustration
All that stress
All, for that beautiful looking timetable.
This really happened last sem while a bunch of us CS peeps were all registering for our subjects in the Library 2 Computer Lab in school.
Cuz it was rumoured to be a successful tried and tested lab for registration of subjects.
HA!
Only Dunstan Lee got what he wanted.
Which led us to believe that club presidents receive special unknown treatment or priority when it comes to subject registration.
To all fellow clickers
Good luck
May the force be with you.
